A genuine single sided Peronoceras fibulatum ammonite, with a hand carved snake head.
A peculiar genus of ammonite, as they evolved with spines along the outside of the shell; presumably for defense.
I have taken time during the preparation process, to fully preserve each spine.
Found:- Lower Jurassic, Upper Lias, Bifrons Zone, Whitby, North Yorkshire, England, 180 million years old.
Snakestone approximate size:- 6cm x 6.5cm x 4cm.
Finished with bees wax.
This snakestone will come in a gift box, along with a plastic display stand and label detailing the origin and species of the fossil.
